For More about Threads on Tour opening in Folkestone on Friday September 26th

We are honored to be taking on UCA's Brewery Tap space situated in the trendy Creative Quarter to host our first pop-up exhibition.

This exhibition was free for Artists to enter.
We called out to Performance, Projection, Installation and Sculpture Artists to exhibit and have received application requests from Wakefield...to Holland!

Threads aims are to be resourceful and recycle existing venues to host exciting events and exhibitions.

As always, we pride ourselves on showing cutting edge quality work. We want the concepts to shine through, not a price tag. Therefore this exhibition will be free to attend.

It is important that we are actively creating opportunities outside of London.

During this exhibition we will host another one of our screenings. This is a curated screening of about ten artists-films. This usually varies from short films and documentaries to abstract moving image works. This will start at 19:00 on 26.09.15 and will have an entry fee that can be found here

I am  working on the Crittle windows that used to belong to our art deco house and were uncovered by the builders, buried at the bottom of the garden. Now that the work has fnished on the house I have started to work on the frames.

It had always been my intention to use the frames as supports for weaving. Now that I have started the work I am exploring the possibilities that the frames offer in terms of making new work. I have decided to incorporate art deco motifs into the weaving, using metallic threads which can only be seen in certain lights.

I was notified today that my painting "cliff" has been selected to be exhibited among the 20 finalists, out of 148 entries, at the Global Art League 2015 exhibition at the Montreal Art Centre. Twenty pieces have been picked by judges to be exhibited in the Le Canal Gallery for the exhibition which runs from the 4th - 16th September 2015.

 "cliff", 2014

For more about this painting as well as my two other submissions please visit my page on The Global Art League http://www.globalartleague.com/elspeth-penfold.html

I am also delighted to be one of the thirty artists selected by a juried entry and organised by curator Stephanie Sinclair to paint  in Norwich at the Wells Next the Sea Paint Out event in September.
For more about this event please check out http://www.paintoutnorwich.org/wells-next-the-sea/ I have never visited this part of the country but have it on good authority that it is stunning.

Looks like a busy September!
